Pete O’Rourke has revealed that Liverpool has its sights set on Mats Wieffer and Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord for potential transfers.
Football Insider reports that Arne Slot, Feyenoord's current manager, is poised to take over at Anfield following Jurgen Klopp’s departure this summer.
O’Rourke suggests that Slot might bring Wieffer, a 24-year-old defensive midfielder, and Geertruida, a 23-year-old defender, to Liverpool.
Wieffer has featured in 42 matches across all competitions this season, impressing in defensive and central midfield roles. He is expected to represent the Netherlands in Euro 2024.
According to O’Rourke's remarks to Football Insider, Liverpool has been monitoring Wieffer, along with several other Premier League clubs, even before Slot was linked with the Anfield managerial position.
Geertruida has also drawn attention, having made 44 appearances under Slot this season, showcasing his versatility in defense and leadership skills as captain.
Speculation about a move to Anfield intensified after Geertruida was spotted attending Liverpool's recent match against West Ham at the London Stadium.
